Field notes for Marvel NFT comic care
A working pamphlet from the Manchester studio: how we talk about covers, interiors, serials, and the difference between a marketplace shelf and a file you can still open.
These notes are for people who already hold Marvel NFT comics and want the pictures to remain describable. They are not a minting guide and not a price forecast.
Light before language
Set the display to a brightness you can repeat. We mark the number on the log. A cover judged under a sunlit window will look washed compared with the same file at night, and that difference is not damage.
Name the parts
Say “masthead,” “corner box stand-in,” “gutter,” “splash,” and “sound-effect balloon” out loud while you look. Vague praise disappears in a year. Precise nouns survive an executor reading the folder.
Checksums are boring on purpose
Write the hash while the file is still on the machine that exported it. If a later copy disagrees, you have a preservation event, not a mystery.
Marketplace versus archive
A listing is a shop window. An archive is the stack of files plus the paper that explains them. Keep both ideas in separate folders. When you need the shop window, leave this site and go there as a visitor.
